In the late 1997, Windy Wulandry (Founder & Owner of Flashy) accidentally created a toaster bag for her own dailywear use. Unpredictably, her friends who saw the bag said that the bag she made is beautiful, and Windy herself got a compliment. With full of faith and confidence, Windy finally start designing new models of bags combined with different kinds of materials. Slowly but sure, she tried to market the bags based on customers request, and marketed some of them in boutiques. Building the brand with a hard work, love, and consistency in design & quality, Flashy finally has its own store in year of 2000. At that moment, the products offered become vary, such as handyphone pouch, purse, hair tie, belt, jacket, beauty case, sandal, t-shirt, cards pouch, and not to mention the bag itself. The distinctive character of Flashy until today, is that Flashy still accept tailor made orders, yet there are some restriction in models and materials. Marketed in the Flashyshop in Bandung, the Flashy products are also marketed with join venture system in stores located in Jakarta, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Cirebon, Palembang, Balikpapan, Depok, and Ujung Pandang.

Brain Manufacture

Dressed-up just ain’t enough! That’s what we’ve think about when we start our venture in August 1st 2005, which later called Brain Manufacture. The name itself represent that we truly think about how people get dressed in daily activity. With our manifesto : think simple, we offer male casual daily use products such as t-shirts, jackets, pants and bags, in simple and playful thought of design, in logo-printed or any light-hearted themes for instance culinary, football superstar or environmental act, suits with modern urban culture by impulsive decide on themes, really straightforward, isn’t it?

Over 10 years we've been working, we have made and create apparel & accessories. We always hold on our commitment and focus to create and provide streetwear stuffs for teenagers. One of Bandung’s clothing and accessories distro, 347, exploded onto the fashion scene. Wearing the 347 label suddenly became the funkiest trend among Bandung’s fashion conscious. It was the first time a distro had moved outside its underground niche and captured a mainstream market.

The crew behind 347 were from upper middle-class families and had more capital at their disposal than most of their forerunners. Distro and Clothing in Bandung

The mushrooming of distro, or clothing, or independent fashion outlets, throughout Indonesian metropolitan centres shows that sometimes the best people to satisfy the youth market are young people themselves. Distro provide a vehicle for creative collective members to market and disseminate their talents. Promoting artistic licence over profit margins, distro do not source stock from factories. Instead most have their own in-house labels with all goods made in small runs. Originality and scarcity are selling points.

Factory Outlets in Bandung

Bandung is really a shopping paradise with so many factory outlets to let you shop till you drop. The clothes sold in these factory outlets are seasonal. What is sold in these outlets depends on the supply from their distributors which offer overruns and seconds on export garments at bargain prices. The foreign store and foreign currency price tag often is still on the item i.e. US$ 65 with the Rp price next to it: Rp 45,000 (US$4.50).

The shops carry both Grade A (best quality overruns) and Grade B (seconds with something wrong with them so they didn't pass quality inspection by the buyer). Some also carry factory rejects but they wouldn't broadcast that fact! Depending on the agreements between buyers/factories and factory outlets, the items are often put up for sale 3-6 months after they go on the market for full price elsewhere.

Don't be surprised if you see 'Made in Korea' or 'Made in Thailand' (to name a few) tags on the clothes too as many of the shops buy from agents who represents factories in these countries. Or, they are really made in Indonesia and mis-labeled on purpose.
